I was born and brought up on the Island, and currently live in Freshwater with my wife and our two daughters. I’ve been racing pretty much since graduating from university in 1994. The majority of this has been time trialling at local club level on the Island, with the occasional trip to the mainland.
By striking a careful balance across family, work and cycling, I have been able to structure my training and racing such that I have been able to get progressively stronger and faster in the Time Trial discipline. This is evident in the results from recent seasons, where I am continuing to record “personal best” times, and have collected virtually every trophy within my present club.
My best results are summarised below:
Winner: (Vectis Offshore Cycling Club Competition)
Grimpeurs Cup 9 times incl. 2005
Mens 10 Mile Cup 5 times incl. 2005
Mens 25 Mile Cup 6 times incl. 2005
Mens 30 Mile Cup 4 times incl. 2005
Mens 50 Mile Cup 5 times incl. 2005
Mens 100 Mile Cup 1999,2000
South Wight Circuit Cup 8 times incl. 2005
President’s Trophy 2004
Club Championship 5 times incl. 2005
Best All-Rounder 4 times incl. 2005
Hill Climb Cup 2005
10 th: Duo Normande, France, 2003. (Field of 120 riders)
2nd: Isle of Wight 3 Day Cycling Festival, 2006.
Fastest Times: 10 Miles – 21m25s, April 2007
25 Miles – 55m31s, April 2007
50 Miles – 2h02m18s, June 2005
I feel that I have reached a point where I would benefit from racing with a small dedicated team of like minded individuals who are prepared to compete in a number of carefully selected mainland races, and thus exposing me to more challenging competition. This will help me to improve further as a rider and should provide the experience needed to consider attempting to compete in any one of the prestigious national events such as the 10 or 25 mile Time Trial Championship, which attract the best riders in the country.
