Launch of ZoneCALC.co.uk - (Sean's creation)
Today was launch day for Sean's new website - Check it out at www.zoneCALC.co.uk
This free to use training log, has been six months in the making with many hours of development (mainly to polish up on programming skills and a need for some kind of web based training log as he keeps losing his paper records).
As mentioned on the site, "ZoneCALC is a simple FREE training diary tool for tracking your zone based daily training. However, you can use ZoneCALC to track your training without using zones if you so wish. Inputting your daily training data is quick and easy. It is primarily a web based number cruncher for 'at a glance feedback' of training zones and average/total times spent in these zones over a given cycle and user historical time period. ZoneCALC is always being added to, so expect new and improved features."
Check it out at http://www.zoneCALC.co.uk
It is currently under beta testing but is in a continuous working state, so please try it out to help Sean iron out any bugs before Google get their hands on it.

“The Grand National” – 8 th June 2008
“The Grand National” – 8 th June 2008
Four members from our BAE Systems sponsored Wightlink/Wight-Mountain Race Team travelled to Sawtry in Cambridgeshire two weeks ago to compete in their first ever Men’s National 25 Mile Time Trial Championship.
The event, often heralded as the Blue Riband of British Time Trialling had a field of 140 of the strongest riders in the country, so it was always going to be very tough for the debutants whose main target for the day was to place ahead of their seeding.
Although it was a sweltering afternoon, the slightly refreshing Northerly headwind on the outward leg of the two laps of the rolling course which ran parallel to the A1(M) set the riders up for a reasonably fast finish.
The event was won by British legend Michael Hutchinson in an incredibly fast time for the course of 50min 49sec, and over a minute ahead of the second placed rider.
Undaunted by the standard of the competition, all four of the Islanders did themselves proud by achieving final placing considerably higher than their seeding. Sean Williams was the best placed team member in 56 th overall with a time of 57:41, with Greg Crosswell 59 th (57:53), Martin Piper next in 67 th (58:42) and Steve Taylor 95 th in a time of 1:01:25.
This significant step forward for the team into national competition wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our sponsors, and will also hopefully give our followers a glimpse of what is to come in future seasons.
Although there are a number of other races this month, the next major event for the team is the South DC Championships in Andover on the 28 th.
